Well, after a long summer break, we are coming back to our usual event coverage and car features. So welcome back and stay tuned for more posts to come.
Today we covered a drag day at achna speedway which if you recall last time we visited. Was a day full of action, with all sorts of cars in a majority of disciplines. Battling it out in the quest to find the fastest car.
The ups and downs of amateur championships
Well, today things were a lot different, unfortunately for the worst. Motorsport presence is small in the island. That means even a smaller number of people have the means to go racing. Despite having almost 40 cars registered originally to hit the strip only half of those showed up and even less of them made passes throughout the event.
Resulting in a poor event despite the efforts of the organizers to put on a show by bringing in some last-minute appearances such as this GTR and A45 amg from the crowd.
The drag strip issue.
As we have mentioned in our previous articles, Achna speedway lacks a proper (1320 ft/402m) drag strip. This means unlike drifting or rallying people are simply not interested in building drag cars for a 300m track.
resulting in days thus a proper championship is out of the question. And its shame for those few that actually spend money on building proper drag weapons such as the k24 turbo awd civic.
With that being said I would like to congratulate everyone who showed up today and had a go at it.
