The past weekend we were lucky to attend some of the stages of the acropolis rally that took place in villages around Larnaca thus its nickname ‘skaliotiko’ which is how the locals refer to something that comes from Larnaca.
The cars
This is a Cypriot championship so it is expected that the cars aren’t WRC spec of any sort. Nevertheless, some R5 spec cars are competing with each other.
followed by a sea of Evo Xs and after that more Evos but powered with the good ‘old 4g63 .
I found the lack of Subarus distributing. Since the brand with the many stars had only a single vehicle representing it (Cyprus heat and Subaru’s head gaskets may have something to do with this).
Closing the pack were the 2wd categories with some interesting vehicles ranging from Peugeots, fiesta’s to Toyota Yaris and ultimately my favourite rally car as of yesterday.
Honda civics Ep3 type r, as well as the newer generations, seemed to be absolute hoon to drive in the fields. Just imagine a K20 flat out on the dirt! It’s similar to a 2-stroke dirtbike if you ask me!
Achna speedway super stage mishap
On Saturday there was supposed to be a super stage in achna speedway but due to poor timing organization from the event hosts (starting the event a whole hour earlier from the one said on the timetable), I barely managed to shoot the Evos and completely missed out on the R5s and sort of Drift exhibition by some local drift athletes.
